CNN Heroes is an award television special created by CNN with the purpose of honouring normal, every day people that have helped humanity through their brave actions. This show was created in 2007 and since then, it has awarded ten people each year.
The good thing about this show is that the public nominates the heroes and you can vote for your favourite hero on their website. But these awards are not just symbolic because the ten winners get 50,000 dollars. More than that, the Hero of the Year will get 250, 000 dollars in his or her pocket.
While most heroes in this world don’t get enough thanks and praise, it’s really good that such a big media corporation has thought about bringing a bit of positivity in their news and encouraging people to be better.
Here are the nominees or this year
Dale Beatty – a disabled man who founded Purple Heart Homes, an organization that helps disabled people build or modify their homes.
Georges Bwelle – a doctor that offers free medical care, while travelling in the jungles of Cameron.
